Permodalan Nasional Berhad, PNB is working on a plan to enable maybank to get 20% of its shares into Islamic Shares or i-Shares through a ring fencing mechanism.

Its chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar said, this is part of the group’s effort to support government’s islamic finance agenda by creating more listed shariah investment instrument via its investee companies.

He was speaking at ‘luncheon talk’ organised by Malaysian Press Institute, MPI.

PNB has 48% of shares in Maybank.
