Ariana Grande-Butera was born in Boca Raton, Florida on June 26, 1993. Her father Edward Butera is the CEO of Designs, Inc. and her half-brother Frankie was a contestant on the reality show Big Brother. Her parents named her after Princess Oriana, a character from Felix the Cat. At the age of 10 she founded a charitable singing group called Kids Who Care which raised over $500,000 for charities in 2007. Grande is an actress and singer whose vocal range is compared to that of Mariah Carey.
Ariana sang on cruise ships and on Broadway until she landed a role on the Nickelodeon series Victorious. When Victorious ended, she starred on a spinoff entitled Sam & Cat. She got into a dispute with her “Sam & Cat” co-star Jennette McCurdy over the belief that Ariana was secretly being paid more than her. Ariana claimed that was not the case. Her 2013 album Yours Truly debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and has sold 500,000 copies to date. Her follow-up release My Everything sold 169,000 copies in its’ first week.
In 2013 she earned a reported $1 million, and in 2014 she earned $1.7 million. Ariana Grande is said to have a net worth of approximately $5 million.
